Saudi Prince shoulders ‘open heart surgery’ operation of Filipino worker

A Saudi prince and Governor of Asis province volunteered to pay all the medical expenses and airlift a Filipino worker who is set to undergo an open heart surgery operations in Saudi Arabia.

Philippine Ambassador Adnan Alonto said that last week he received a call from the office of Prince Turki Bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud telling him that there’s a Filipino named Ted who is set to undergo an open heart surgery.

“Walang facility ang hospital sa Asir na magsagawa ng open heart surgery. Ininform ako ng opisina niya na ipadala siya rito sa Riyadh si Ted,” Alonto said in a Facebook live interview.

Alonto and Ted were both surprised when Prince Al Saud’s office said that they will shoulder all the expenses for the operation.

“Talagang nabigla ako doon. Si Ted nga hindi ma explain kung ano ang ginawa niya para madeserve niya ito,” Alonto explained.

Ted has been working as technician in Saudi Arabia for 31 years now, his wife is also in the Kingdom working as a nurse.

“Si Ted po is in stable condition nakapagsalita naman siya kasama ang kanyang asawa,” Alonto explained.

In his Twitter post, Alonto said that ‘miracles do happen’ and it’s always nice to share good news that Saudi employers or nationals also care for Filipinos.
