Comedian and TV host Vic Sotto admitted that he felt worried about his son’s, Vico Sotto, mayoralty bid in Pasig City against incumbent Mayor Bobby Eusebio, whose clan dominated in Pasig since 1992.
Nevertheless, he never failed to show support to his son throughout his race.
“Anim na buwan na akong ninenerbyos. Buhat nung araw na ‘yun (nung sinabi niya na tatakbo sya), ninenerbyos na ako. Hanggang ngayon, ninenerbyos pa rin ako,” the older Sotto was quoted to have said in a report.
He added that Vico’s decision to compete against Eusebio was going to be difficult from the start but he just chose to support it.
“Hindi lang basta pader, kunti pader na makapal at matibay. Sabi ko, sige, laban na tayo, may tiwala ako sa’yo. I will support you all the way,” he said.
On the other hand, Vico’s mother, veteran actress Coney Reyes, said that her son has shown interest in serving the public ever since he was young.
“Maliit na bata pa siya, iba na ang puso niya, so I gave him my 100 percent support,” she said.
The winning mayoralty candidate, who has served as a councilor for one term, has over 80,000-vote lead against Eusebio.
According to the Commission on Elections’ partial and unofficial tally as of Tuesday 9:46 AM (PH time), Vico has already garnered 204,118 votes, while Eusebio received 118,281.
“It is mathematically impossible for our opponents to win,” he said.
As of this posting, Vico is now awaiting his proclamation.
