The UAE has officially confirmed that Ramadan 2019 officially starts today, May 6.
The Ramadan crescent was spotted in UAE on Sunday as the Moon Sighting Committee converged for a meeting.
The announcement was posted by Dubai Media Office on its Twitter account.

UAE leaders took to Twitter to congratulate leaders and people for the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Last week, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that working hours for the private sector will be reduced by two hours during Ramadan.
Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, issued the decision as per Article 65 of Federal Law No. 08 of 1980.
The minister extended his congratulations and well wishes for the auspicious occasion to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.
