PH to sign labor deal with Russia

The Philippines will be signing a bilateral agreement with Russia that will open more job opportunities for Filipino workers.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in an interview that he will fly to Russia by March or April next year to sign the labor agreement on the deployment of overseas Filipino workers, reported SunStar.

Bello said that there are already OFWs in Russia and that they are in need of more workers “since they have an aging population”.

He added that the labor deal was initiated by their Russian counterparts.

The Philippines Overseas Employment Administration has earlier revealed that Russia has been planning to have a government-to-government deployment scheme with the Philippines.

Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Igor Khovaev is also looking forward to the deployment of both skilled and unskilled workers to Russia.
