5 things you should know about Momoland

South Korean group Momoland, popularly known for their hit song “Bboom Bboom”, is coming to Dubai early next year – January 4 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. Here are the top trivia that you should know about the group.

2016. Momoland originated in 2016 from a survival program by Mnet called “Finding Momoland” created by their producer, Duble Kick Entertainment, where 7 members will be selected to form an all-girl group out of 10 trainees: Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy made the cut.

Crowdfunded. Momoland’s debut album, “Welcome to Momoland” was initially funded by their fans. The total amount of funds generated from their crowdfunding platform reached a total of 10 million won, exceeding their initial goal of 7 million.

Goodwill Ambassadors. Momoland was also appointed as the ambassador for Korea’s International Relief Development NGO Plan, and has since been involved in several altruistic efforts, including their volunteer participation at Vietnam where they encourage Happy Mov students to participate at the Kindergarten construction service.

From 7 to 9 members. In 2017, new members Daisy and Taeha joined the group. In the same year, they released their second album ‘Freeze!’

‘Great!’ Momoland’s third album ‘Great!’ launched in January 2018 was where they found international success with their title track ‘Bboom Bboom’. With their hit song, they have since been nominated and awarded many accolades, including the Platinum certification by Gaon Music Chart, for over 100 million streams for the song ‘Bboom Bboom’.

Organized by DJMC events, the K-pop group will be performing at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium early next year at January 4. Gates open 6:00 pm with the concert starting at around 8:00 pm.
