Former ‘Iskolar ng Bayan’ now a millionaire at 26

Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Same is true for Jhay-R, who came from a poor family. But only years after graduating from college, he is now a millionaire at the young age of 26.

Jhay-R Reyes originally shared his success story in a now viral post on Facebook. According to Jhay-R, he once dreamed about becoming a millionaire at 25 when he was about to finish his degree at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).

“When I was about to finish college, I had this goal to be a millionaire at the age of 25, with a car and a home I can call my own,” he shared.

The dream seemed impossible to achieve, especially for a poor scholar like Jhay-R. But he was determined, and in the end managed to make his ‘impossible dream’ a reality.

Exactly 10 years ago, he started investing in stocks with P9,100 pesos while he was still studying in PUP.

“Started with an investment of 4 digits (9100+) exactly 10 years ago while studying as a iskolar ng bayan in PUP and trade I guess more than 1000 buys and sells to make it what it is now,” he shared.

However, he admitted that his road to success was not without hardships. In the span of four years after graduating, Jhay-R had quit several jobs and had five employers. Moreover, his father got sick for about two years and suffered from health issues. However, the young man did not let these difficulties hold him down.

“But those challenges never changed the dream I want to achieve. When you dream, make it a goal and for you to achieve your goal, you should move to achieve those goals and stop complaining and whining about the things you can’t control,” he expressed.

Jhay-R is proud to say that everything he has achieved in life came from pure hard work, honesty, and loyalty. “Everything I have now is the result of credibility I built over the years. I lost some friends in the process, and also gained some friends also,” he shared.

“Every cent, peso I have now came from investments, stocks to be specific. This house came from one stock, and that car came from one stock also. Without any debt, without fooling other people,” he highlighted.

At the young age of 26, Jhay-R is not only a millionaire but also a car and house owner—a scenario he once only dreamed about.

“Now I’m 26 years old, [my goal was achieved] late by one year but I guess it’s better late than never, right?” he concluded.
