Dubai population hits 3 million mark

Dubai’s population has surged to over three million this third quarter of 2018 as revealed by new statistics.

According to Dubai Statistics Center (DSC), the emirate’s population has risen above three million—seeing an increase of 232,000 over the last 12 months.

The overall resident population of Dubai is now at 3,136,400, which increased by 1.1% percent from last year’s statistics, as reported by The National.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s ‘daytime population’ is over a million higher at 4,291,400. This ‘daytime population’ refers to the number of people in the city for work, leisure, or other activities, but not necessarily residents of Dubai.

“The rise in population reflects Dubai’s growth as a dynamic economic and tourism hub,” said DSC Executive Director Arif Al Mehairi.

According to Al Mehairi, over 37% of the Dubai’s active daytime population comes from outside the emirate.
