This country overtakes Singapore in world’s most powerful passports list

Japan has overtaken Singapore in the latest Henley Passport Index released on Wednesday, May 23, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a record 189 destinations.

It’s due in part to Uzbekistan that lifted visa requirements for Japanese nationals in early February.

The Singapore passport comes in second place, tied with Germany, with a total of 188 destinations accessible without a prior visa.

Another Asian country that entered the top most powerful passports in world is South Korea. It tied with Finland, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden in the third spot.

Meanwhile, the United States and United Kingdom placed fourth.
