Autumn promises more jobs

With summer over and autumn setting in, the season becomes as opportune  for al fresco shisha as it is for job hunting in the cooler days ahead.

Latest survey by Bayt.com, a jobs and human resource portal, showed that there are over 4 in 10 companies that plan to hire in the next three months and they will be hiring for a maximum of five jobs with small and medium local companies showing highest requirement.

“For the private sector, hiring trend in the next three months look presumably high with top industries being advertising/marketing/public relations, banking/finance, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG)  sector like hypermarts and malls, hospitality/recreation/entertainment and IT/internet/ecommerce,” said the survey report.

Latest survey says 4 in 10 companies in the region planning to hire will be hiring for up to 5 jobs in the next 3 months with small and medium local companies showing highest requirement.

Bayt.com further said that majority of the companies will be hiring mid-career and mostly  junior positions.

The top five positions, according to the survey are sales executive, project manager, accountant, sales manager and administrative assistant; while the most sought-after skills are the ability to speak Arabic and English, being a team player, ability to work under pressure, good leadership skills, efficient, good at negotiations, and ability to take on new challenges.

Moreover, graduate/post-grad degrees in engineering and business management are most sought-after academic qualifications among employers.

The top industries hiring for engineering degrees are automotive, real estate/construction/property development, engineering design, IT, manufacturing as well as  Oil and Gas among others

For business management degree holders, business consultancy, FMCG, banking and finance, as well as commerce retail and trade are the top employers, the survey results showed.

The survey had some 1,474 respondents, done through online interviews  from May to July 2017 across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
