PNP: Adamson student found dead in Cavite showed signs of hazing

The Philippine National Police confirmed that the body of the chemical engineering student found in Imus, Cavite on Tuesday manifested signs of hazing.

The PNP said that they are also looking at 15 persons of interest and are now under investigation.

“Maliban sa statement ng ating mga witness, nakitaan natin ng mga pasa ang biktima sa kanyang binti,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Virgilio Jopia, acting chief of police of Philippine National Police-Biñan, Laguna, said in an interview with GMA News.

The PNP however added that they are still waiting for the autopsy results.

“‘Yung ating biktima, sumailalim na sa autopsy examination at ‘yon ang hinihintay natin, ang official report,” Jopia said.

The body of John Matthew Salilig was found dead in a shallow grave a week after he was reported missing.

“‘Yung labi ng ating biktima ay natunton sa pamamagitan din ng pagtuturo din ng kanyang mga kasama du’n sa ginawa nilang initiation rites dito sa bayan ng Biñan,” Jopia said.

The 15 persons of interest are now being probed by the police with at least seven of whom took part in his initiation rights of the Tau Gamma Phi.

“‘Yung aming assessment, out of fear ito, nu’ng mga bata,” he said.

“Dahil sa ginawa nating masusing investigation doon sa lahat ng personalities involved, isa-isa silang nagpunta sa ating police station,” Jopia added.
