Three presidential candidates vow to go after the P203 billion worth of estate tax being demanded to the Marcos family should they win the presidency.
“Umasa kayo na yung isang pamilyang may utang na ₱203 billion na estate tax, sisiguraduhin nating sisingilin ko yun at ibibigay ko bilang ayuda sa taumbayan,” Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said during the COMELEC presidential debate on Saturday.

Senator Ping Lacson agreed with Moreno to further help struggling Filipinos amid soaring fuel prices.
“Tama yun. Yung mga pinasa na tax packages. Ang dami nun eh. Ang na-retain 101 billion pesos, TRAIN 1 TRAIN 2. Merong ₱203 billion, sisingilan lamang. Bakit ayaw singilin ng BIR?,” he added.
Vice President Leni Robredo also agreed with her fellow presidential aspirants although she said P230 billion instead of P203 billion.

“Pinag-aawayan yung ayaw isuspend yung excise tax dahil wala tayong pera, nasasayang sa revenue. Ito ₱230 billion kung nasingil na ito hindi na kailangan tipirin ang ating kababayan,” Robredo said.
The Marcos family’s unsettled estate tax liabilities may have reached ₱203 billion as of 2021 from ₱23 billion in 1997.
