A man was crushed to death at Al Nakheel road in Fujairah after being hit by a taxi while crossing a road Friday night.
Police said the Arab man in his 70s was crossing Al Nakheel Road when he was hit by the vehicle and the accident was reported to them at 8:30pm.
The officers and an ambulance rushed to the scene, but the man had succumbed to severe injuries.
The taxi driver was taken to police custody for further investigations.
Col. Saleh Mohammed Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police urged pedestrians to only use designated crossing areas. Meanwhile, motorists were told to focus on the road while driving.
