In a sting operation, Sharjah Poice have arrested five members of a gang for fleeing with a car worth AED 250,000
The Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police said a complaint was filed by an Emirati man at the Industrial Areas Comprehensive Police station.
A man offered to buy a Land Cruiser 2020 for AED 250,000 and signed a cheque. He, however, requested to examine the vehicle and try it for two hours before switching off his mobile phone and stealing the vehicle.
Sharjah Police detectives recovered the stolen vehicle from the main suspect and his four accomplices during the sting operation.
Director of Criminal Investigation Department, Colonel Omer Ahmed Abul Zoud, said the members of the gang used to meet in Ras Al Khaimah and used personal contacts to allocate tasks among them.
The fraudsters confessed to the crime.
