Survey says more employees wanted to continue work from home set-up

A number of employees in the Middle East expressed their desire to move to full-time remote working.

The new research by Robert Walters revealed data from recruiter 2021 Salary Survey that there are also 32 percent of individuals who want to engage themselves in at least 50 percent of remote work for this year.

A thousand white-collar professionals participated in the firm’s annual employment trends.

The survey also showed 73 percent of professionals have enjoyed the flexible hours afforded with home working. There are also professionals rated at 31 percent who stated that working from home has allowed for an increased focus on wellbeing.

In addition, 26 percent found that the more regular updates and check-in calls with managers and colleagues especially during lockdown is a positive change to their work style.

Jason Grundy, MD at Robert Walters Middle East, said they anticipate that some changes incorporated into workplaces as a result of COVID-19 in 2020 will be more enshrined in day to day working environments going forward.

He added that some professional industries will have an element of remote working embedded for good.

Pierre-Emmanuel Dupil, senior managing director at PageGroup, Middle East & Africa, said the remote work from home set-up has allowed companies to adapt to change as companies successfully navigated in 2020.

Another recent research by Kaspersky showed 32 percent of employees in the UAE enjoy working outdoors in their very own garden or on a balcony.

These are the various novelties they’ve discovered while working from home and would like to keep.

Around 48 percent of the respondents also said they benefited from simply working in comfortable clothes.

Saying goodbye to long commutes has also made employees happier while 32 percent enjoyed taking a short nap during the day.

Lastly, 29 percent said they enjoyed having more time for takeaway lunches. (ES)
