Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has weighed in on the drug war report that Vice President Leni Robredo released yesterday, January 6.
Moreno believes that Robredo’s criticism on the Duterte administration’s war on drugs is ‘unfair’.
“Unfair naman ‘yun sa enforcement units who are putting their lives on the line confronting this ready-to-kill individual,” Moreno said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
He added that it will not be fair for those who were risking their lives and be given a ‘failure’ assessment.
“Nilalagay nila sarili nila sa alanganin then you’ll hear these type of statements. Alanganin lang, hindi lang ako kumportable,” he added.
On Monday, Robredo said that the government’s crackdown on illegal drugs in the last three years can be considered a failure after seizing only “1 percent” of the total shabu supply that flooded the country.
Robredo was appointed in Novermber 2019 as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD). She was fired after more than two weeks due to her supposed missteps.
Moreno also defended Duterte and said that he is the only President who had an intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
“We have to give an ‘A’ for the effort kasi hindi ‘yan biro. Ang lalim ng droga, noong panahon pa ng dekada ’80 lumala ‘yan,” he added.
