Family seeks assistance after OFW relative died from heart attack in Dubai

The family of the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Dubai was made aware of the death of their relative due to cardiac arrest.

The deceased OFW was identified as Auzie Mae Gonzales. She was 31 years old.

Gonzales’ brother Redd found out about his sister’s death from the news he saw in The Filipino Times as well as from the initial Facebook post of the OFW’s friend, Chalouneth Sy.

“Sa TV ko lang to napapanuod, masakit pala makitang ate mo na mismo ang nasa headline news and its not just a news, its deceased news,” Redd posted on his Facebook post.

The brother asked for assistance on how to bring Auzie’s body back home. He said that Auzie went to Dubai as tourist and started working in the area.

“She went to Dubai po as tourist so im sure di sya member ng owwa. Pero may working visa na ngayon sya. We badly need help po para maiuwi napo ang ate ko, ngayon po ay nasa police station katawan nya for autopsy kasi dead on arrival sya nung sinugod sa hospital,” he said.

The brother then shared the story of his sister’s sacrifice abroad.

“Almost 4 years kang nawala at nakipag sapalaran sa Dubai para maka tulong kay mama at sa mga anak mo, hindi ko nakikita yung importance ng tulong mo until ngayon wala kana,” he said.

Redd also said that Auzie was his favorite sister, called her talented and filled with a sense of humor.

Redd even remembered how his sister helped his studies.

“ Yung ate ko na super proud ako dahil during may college days ikaw nag pprovide ng mga libro ko.You are strong independent woman na kahit may sakit ka sige ka sa pag work. Kahit home sick ka na sige lang work,” he said.

Auzie left behind three children. But one thing is for sure she was a good provider, a loving mother and a dependable daughter.

Auzie was scheduled to come back home for a reunion, but her employer said to reschedule it next year.

The Filipino Times has learned that the Philippine Consulate General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates has reached out to the Redd in the Philippines and assured that necessary assistance will be provided to the family.
