At least 34 passengers were hurt, but none were in critical condition, when two trains of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) collided on Saturday evening.
LRTA board secretary and spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said they will convene a fact finding committee to determine the cause of the accident.
It was reported by Inquirer that a train that was undergoing repairs moved from a pocket track between the Anonas and Cubao stations when it started moving.
It was waiting to be towed back to the LRT-2 depot in Santolan, Pasig City when it started moving towards Cubao, into the path of Train No. 13.
The driver was reportedly warned of the situation, and subsequently stopped the train and informed passengers to brace for impact.
After the incident, LRT authorities ordered the suspension if operations between Santolan and Recto on Sunday morning while the wreckage is cleared of the two trains were removed.
Meanwhile, the LRTA has announced that all medical treatment expenses of the injured passengers will be shouldered by the agency.
Early Sunday morning, only five passengers are confined for medical treatment.
The operator of the train, who jumped out before the collission occurred, sustained injuries but is stable and in the custody of the LRTA.
LRT2 operations returned to resumed at 10:47 a.m. on Sunday, according to a Super Radyo dzBB report.
