The family of Filipina Geraldine Lupian Betasola, who battles for her life after she was hit by a van in Hong Kong, is praying they could still see her alive as they fly out of the country tonight to visit her.
Early reports said it would take a miracle for the 36-year-old mother and domestic helper to survive after sustaining severe injuries.
“I hope it’s not yet late,” Rappler quoted Inabanga Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy as saying during a phone interview.
The local government of Inabaga has extended its helping hand to the Filipina’s husband Ricardo Betasola and his 16-year-old son Kyle to secure necessary documents and pay expenses for their flight. This includes the processing of their passports and DSWD permit for Kyle.
“I still don’t know all the details what happened last Saturday. I have been informed that Geraldine is still in critical condition. And we have to do everything so Ricardo and Kyle could see Geraldine in person,” said Jumamoy.
“Coming from a remote barangay, they don’t know what to do, or how to obtain a passport and buy a ticket.”
“I assigned staff to assist Ricardo and his son so they could expedite all the requirements and finally fly to Hong Kong on Wednesday.”
“We consider our OFWs our modern heroes. They deserve our all-out support,” the mayor added.
Geraldine’s employer is helping in the hospital treatment.
