OFWs warned against unrecognized couriers

Bitag host Ben Tulfo, in a column published in Pang-masa, warned Filipinos abroad against unknown freight companies especially this holiday season.

A Filipino in America reportedly sent six balikbayan boxes worth P600,000 to her family in the Philippines but the boxes did not reach their destination within the promised delivery date, Tulfo said.

The courier, which Tulfo named as RDR Cargo, passed around the blame for the delay of the shipment, and told the sender to coordinate with their counterpart in the Philippines: Pinoy Online Cargo.

The company asked the Filipino expat to wait some more and pay an additional fee of P2,000 just to be sure. But her family still did not receive the box.

Expensive baking equipment and power tools originally in the box have gone missing, and the branded clothes were being sold for P80 per piece.

Adrian Espina, allegedly the owner of Pinoy Online Cargo approached the sender and vowed to replace her boxes.

Tulfo asked.

Tulfo reminded Filipinos abroad to beware of freight companies such as those and check the Department of Trade and Industry website for the list of accredited freight forwarders.
