JUST IN: Winwyn Marquez wins Miss Reina Hispanoamericana crown

Philippine’s bet Winwyn Marquez has won the Reina Hispanoamericana title held in Bolivia, Nov. 5.

The 25-year-old beauty queen started her journey strong bagging several awards during the pre-pageant competition.

“I’m very happy and I promised I will take my Hispanic culture alive. I will learn Spanish (language). It’s time to go back where I come from. It’s my roots and I’m very proud,” Marquez told reporters after her victory.

During the pageant, her final question pertains to language barrier she may encounter if she wins the crown.

She replied: “Language can be learned but the will and determination to contribute something to the organization cannot. It come [should] from the heart, and it has to be natural. I believe that kindness is a universal language. If you treat people with tolerance, patience and love, you will understand each other.

“Hispanic culture is not about language only. It’s about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture, and love for family.

“As a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that. I am ready to promote Hispanic culture, not just in Asia but in the whole world.

“It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture. it’s meant to be celebrated.”

The first Asian to compete at the said pageant, Marquez became an early favorite contender for the crown, with her videos getting viral on social media.

Before the pageant proper, she has won Miss Ipanema at the second Gala de la Belleza (Gala of Beauty), and placing first runner-up in the Miss Personalidad Udabol competition, where she answered a special jury question.

Marquez even made headlines in Bolivia as the “La Reina De Asia,” even before she arrived in the country.
