2 Filipinos among TIME’s most influential youth

Meet Shibby de Guzman, 14, and Bretman Rock, 19 years old, who both conquered TIME’s annual Most Influential Teens list for 2017.

The two were among the 30 chosen by the magazine based on “accolades across numerous fields, through their global impact through social media and the overall ability to drive news.”

De Guzman, who is a student at St. Scholastica’s College in Manila, carried a megaphone and wore a sign that said: “Lahat tayo posibleng drug pusher” (We can all be drug pushers).

The girl said she wanted to take a stand and to show their displeasure over the spate of killings in the country as a result of the drug war.

Rock, 19, and a member of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, was born in the Ilocos Region but moved to Hawaii when he was 7 years old.

The beauty guru and internet superstar made the cut after dominating social media with his hilarious vlogs including his wacky make-up tutorials.

He has close to nine million followers on Instagram.
