Dubai unveils new beach district

The week has just started, yet La Mer has already given us a reason to look forward to a well-deserved break this weekend.

Developer Meeras has finally opened La Mer in Jumeirah 1 today, Oct. 15.  The beach district, which spans at 13.4 million square meters, will feature an uninterrupted view of the Arabian Gulf and city skyline, and about 130 shops, restaurants, and cafes.

La Mer North and La Mer South, the first phase of the project, will also soon include a Sea Spice Beach Club, and Hawa Hawa, a trampoline park, whose concept originated from Japan.

The existing beaches were also redeveloped to include showers, toilets with baby changing rooms, and disabled access, day rooms and cabanas, free Wi-Fi, information hubs, mobile charging, children’s playground, and over 100,000 parking spaces and valet parking.

Meanwhile, the project’s final phase, dubbed The Wharf, will be launched early next year and is set to feature industrial-themed aesthetics, cinemas, a waterpark, a first-of-its-kind surf park and more shops and cafes.

“[La Mer] will strengthen Dubai’s position as a global shopping and tourist city…With a host of new and novel experiences, residents and visitors will also find an alluring proposition to explore and enjoy,” Meeras Group Chairman His Excellency Abdulla Al Habbai said in a statement

La Mer is Meeras’ seventh project in the past three years following City Walk, the Beach, Boxpark, Last Exit, The Outlet Village and Al Seef.
