Dubai ranked 23rd most attractive city in the world

Dubai clinched the 23rd spot in this year’s Global Power City Index (GPCI), an analysis and ranking of the power of major cities to attract creative people and business enterprises globally.

The city joined the rankings for the first time, buoyed by its strength in cultural interaction and economy.

Strong evaluations for corporate tax rate drove Dubai up to the 11th rank in economy, and the huge number of luxury hotel guest rooms placed it at 9th in cultural interaction.

The emirate also placed at 13 in accessibility; 31 in research and development, and livability; and 39 in environment.

Meanwhile, the top five cities in the index: London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Singapore, maintained their respective positions from last year, as they have for nine consecutive years.

GPCI is a 10-year-old study evaluating cities based on six main functions: economy, research, and development, cultural interaction, livability, environment and accessibility; and on the five global actors who lead the urban activities in their cities: manager, researcher, artist, visitor and resident.
