Triathletes give PH 2 golds, 2 silvers in 2017 SEA Games

The Philippines won its second and third gold medals in the 29th Southeast Asian Games after Filipino athletes dominated in the men’s and women’s triathlon, respectively.

Nikko Huelgas defended his triathlon title on Monday, August 21, clocking in at 1:59:30, beating his own record of 2:04:32 in the 2015 SEA Games.

Fellow Filipino John Chicano checked in four minutes later, earning the Philippines its second silver medal.

It’s the same story for the women’s triathlon as Kim Mangrobang finishes first with a time of 2:11:14 over last year’s champion Claire Adorna, winning the country a gold and silver medal, respectively.

Rio Olympian Mary Joy Tabal won the country’s first gold medal on Saturday, August 19, for dominating the women’s marathon in Malaysia.
