Stephen Curry gets richest NBA contract

NBA superstar Stephen Curry clinched a five-year extension contract with the Golden State Warriors worth $201 million, the richest contract in NBA history, ESPN reported on Saturday Manila time.

Curry recently helped the Warriors to win their second NBA Finals crown in three years.

Jeff Austin, the player’s agent, said Curry is the first player to break the $200 million barrier.

Previously, Curry had a four-year contract with the Warriors worth $44 million and was ranked the 82nd best-paid player in the league earning $12.1 million last season as reported by Inquirer.

The player largely contributed to the series of dazzling seasons for the Warriors being named NBA Most Valuable Player during the Warrior’s championship win in 2014-2015.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ Lebron James congratulated Curry in a tweet..

Curry holds the NBA record for most three-pointers. He made 402 three-pointers during the 2015-2016 season, the first time a player passed 300 threes in a single season.
