‘Duterte’s complaint desk at NAIA to suppress baggage theft,’ says Recto

On Thursday, January 18, 2018, Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto suggested that placing Duterte Action Desk (DAD) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and other major airports might help curb baggage theft incidents.

The ‘DAD’ will have a presidential seal which he thinks might prevent baggage thieves to commit crimes.

“Eh di ba, ang uso ngayon isumbong kay Tatay Digong? Kung ganoon, maglagay na doon sa mga paliparan ng DAD-Duterte Action Desk, para lahat ng reklamo ora mismo maaksyunan (Isn’t it a fad now to raise complaints to Tatay Digong? If that’s the case, we should put a DAD in airports),” Recto said.

The ‘DAD’, aside from accommodating complaints, will also receive commendations for good services rendered.

Citing the recent baggage theft incident at the Clark Airport wherein the passenger’s luggage and boxes were all emptied, the senator stressed airport managers should follow the airport’s quick response.

Recto also conveyed the need to install CCTVs to strengthen transparency in baggage handling.

“For those flying in from abroad who have lost their belongings, we don’t know if the stealing was done here or outside the country. But at the very least, there should be a help desk that victims can go to,” Recto said.
