Asian to be deported after stealing employer’s necklace

A Sri Lankan maid based in Sharjah is facing six months of imprisonment after allegedly stealing her employer’s necklace.

According to investigation, the maid took a photo of her wearing the necklace and posted it on Facebook.

Her employer immediately confronted the maid and called the police, reported Khaleej Times, after she spotted the photo online.

In her defense, the maid said that she did not steal the necklace. She reiterated that it was her sponsor’s wife who gave it to her as a gift. She also did not think that it was real and authentic gold that’s why she threw it in the trash bin.

Despite her argument, the Sharjah criminal court has ordered her deportation after serving the 3-month jail term.
