A 16-year-old student from Adamson University was killed after a trailer truck accidentally crashed her yesterday, January 14, in Ermita, Manila.
The victim was identified as Justinne Mariflor Sarmiento, Grade 11.
According to authorities, the victim was with her classmates in Paco Park for a school activity when a trailer truck driven by Rene Gerbert Perez, 33, hit and eventually crashed Sarmiento’s body, reported the Philippine Star.
The victim was immediately taken at the Medical Center Manila but eventually died due to severe wounds and blood loss.
In his defense, the truck driver said he did not notice the girl and that we was completely unaware that his truck already crashed her.
Authorities have already impounded the truck, while Perez remains at the custody of the police and will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
