Speaker Alvarez: ‘Ugly, rich’ spouses to be protected by civil union bill in PH

House speaker Pantaleon Alvarez aims to protect the rights of Filipino husbands and wives who lack pleasant physical attributes.

His proposed law of legalizing civil union covers protection for people who are not that good looking, and were only asked to get married because of their wealth.

Alvarez reiterated that this bill will be convenient for both men and women because it will eradicate the system of ‘absolute community of property’.

This system enables spouses to become co-owners of each other properties, even those that they’ve acquired before the marriage.

The house speaker pointed out that this will be beneficial and convenient to save one’s own rights even after getting hitched.

The civil union bill which Alvarez proposed along with other House members, also aims to allow marriage or civil union for same sexes citizens in the country.

  1. hah? if they are ugly and rich then there’s nothing to be worried about as they can always enhance their looks through plastic surgery and i am sure their wealth are protected with pre-nup. divorced are for irreconcilable differences but got nothing to do about the looks.
