Despite being one of the Magic 12 preferred senatorial candidates for the 2019 elections based on two surveys, Davao City Mayor Sarah Duterte-Carpio told the media via a text message that her slot will remain open to others as long as the critics of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte (PRD), will not annoy her.
“Huwag lang ako inisin ng mga kalaban ni PRD then my slot should become available to all the yellows,” the Presidential daughter said.
The “yellows” she referred to are the members of the opposition Liberal Party.
The Davao Mayor instead thanked her supporters for the tremendous support she is receiving.
“Thank you to those who gave their support, but I still believe that being a responsible Dabawenyo, whether in public office or as a practising lawyer, is my contribution to nation building,” she said.
Duterte-Carpio ranked 9th in the Social Weather Stations in December, while she placed 5th-6th in the Laylo Research Strategies in November last year.
The Mayor remains consistent on her stand that she will not run for a national post.
