Sir Elton John showcases huge repertories of hits at Dubai’s Autism Rocks Arena

DUBAI: Musical icon Sir Elton John was the perfect finale to Dubai’s recent Autism Rocks Arena’s 2017 concerts, as he showcased his huge repertoire of hits to an 8,000-strong crowd.

Sir Elton took to the stage in a sparkling green jacket and matching statement sunglasses for his long-awaited live show in Dubai. Taking root behind his signature black Yamaha piano, the pop superstar and his long-time band treated fans to a back catalogue of infectious hits as part of the ‘Wonderful Crazy Night’ tour, including ‘I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues’, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ ‘Rocket Man’ and ‘Tiny Dancer’.

The star received standing ovation after standing ovation as he showed off his exceptional piano skills teamed with catchy guitar riffs for songs such as ‘Crocodile Rock’ and ‘I’m Still Standing’. Yet undoubtedly the song that coaxed the loudest applause on the night was ‘Your Song’, which the singer dedicated to his late mother who he said, “did a lot for him in his early years”.

The legendary singer rounded off his unforgettable 130-minute set with an encore featuring his most memorable hit, ‘Candle in the Wind’.

Sharing the stage with the legendary performer was Red Bull Opening Act and home-grown Indie-Folk trio Vandalye, who provided the perfect warm-up soundtrack for the evening with their melodic guitars and smooth vocals. The Dubai-based band delighted crowds with singles from their debut album due to be released soon.

The concert rounded up an exceptional 2017 of international artists at the venue including Guns ‘n’ Roses; Justin Bieber; Bryan Adams; Bebe Rexha; Capturing Pablo; Fiesta de los Muertos with Gorillaz, Stormzy and Carly Rae Jepsen; Jennifer Lopez; Ed Sheeran and finally, Elton John.
