‘Sa Pasko, how about a boyfriend for me?’

Other people may think Loida, a marketing, communications and public relations director at one of Dubai’s five-star, got it all in spades: a nice job where she gets to travel, good salary and a hotel room of an accommodation, among others.

But nay. Unfortunately, she has her cake but nary a bite.

“Wish ko magka-boyfriend. Seven years na ako sa UAE, kahit minsan di ako nagka-BF.” (I wish for a boyfriend. I have been in the UAE for seven years, not once have I had one.)

“Hindi naman ako naghahanap, pero sana smart and tall,” said Loida. “Kailangan mas matangkad sa akin kahit naka-heels ako. Doesn’t matter kung ibang lahi,” she added. (I’m not looking but I wish he’d be smart and tall. He has to be taller than me even when I’m in heels. Doesn’t matter if he is of another nationality.)

Another criteria, she said is that the guy must be financially stable. “Or at least, mas malaki ang sahod sa akin. NOT for my benefit but because of ego. You know how guys are… egoistic,” Loida said. (Or at least he has salary bigger than mine.)

Loida said there are lots of Pinays in the UAE just like her, “bakante (vacant).”
