Former transportation secretary Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya is facing another graft complaint over the P3.8-billion maintenance contract for the MRT-3.
The petition alleged that the agreement with Busan Universal Rail was “anomalous and disadvantageous,” said Bayan secretary general Renato Reyes.
“Sinisisi natin [ang kontrata] sa deterioration o pagsahol ng serbisyo at kalidad ng tren,” Reyes told DZMM.
The Department of Transportation terminated the government’s contract with BURI and filed a graft complaint against Abaya and several other former officials.
Last Thursday, some 140 MRT passengers were evacuated after 2 train cars detached from each other. Two days earlier, a woman’s right arm was severed when she fell onto the tracks at the MRT-Ayala Station after she felt dizzy.
