How did Justin Trudeau end up in Jollibee in Manila?

You might already know that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordered a take-out lunch at Jollibee’s North Harbour branch on Sunday, Nov. 12, but how did he manage to end up there?

Though Trudeau is a very busy man with an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to attend to, he didn’t just simply got down his car to order Chickenjoy and a strawberry tea float because it would be a security nightmare as they say.

In an online report published on Esquire.ph, it is said that the Canadian embassy reached out to the company a few days ago to ask if they could include a Jollibee stop in the PM’s itinerary. Security protocols were then coordinated accordingly.

When he stopped by the branch, the Canadian Prime Misnister went around and spent time with the customers and staff. He even sat at a table and did a high-five with a little girl.

He also shared fries with a customer.

And joined a group photo with Jollibee employees behind the counter.

Francis Flores, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer, told the Inquirer that Trudeau wanted to visit the food chain.

“We were just advised a few days ago. He really loves Jollibee and knows how much Filipinos love it. He also went to our first Jollibee store in Canada last February, and he knows we are opening more stores in Canada,” the Inquirer quoted Flores as saying.

Jollibee is one of the leading fast food chains in the Philippines.
