Bus-on-demand mobile app launched in Dubai

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched a mobile app that would let people book a bus and take them to their destination.

RTA unveiled the mobile app “MVMANT” during the GITEX 2017 at the Dubai World Center. It is said to be the first mobile app of its kind in the region and it would let people book a bus.

MVMANT will make bus drivers communicate with their clients, ask their pickup location, and bring them to their desired destination.

According to Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the trial run of MVAMANT will start by the end of October. The trial phase will have six buses deployed at Al Barsha and Al Warqaa.

RTA also plans to conduct a survey on residents using these two metro stations to assess the needed improvement for the app.

“This step aims to ensure that the service offering will live up to the aspirations of the targeted clientele for convenient and safe mobility,” Al Ali said.

Currently, RTA is preparing in selecting a platform for flexible routing and scheduling of buses in order for the clients to take advantage of this new service.

Al Ali said MVMANT is part of RTA’s plan in keeping up with the Smart City initiative and Dubai Government’s Future Accelerators initiative.

“This innovative project is undertaken in the context of the Dubai Future Accelerators Programme and the Smart City initiative advocated by our government,” he said.
