Duterte bares new terrorism plot to attack in Mindanao

President Rodrigo Duterte has warned that other cities and provinces in Mindanao of possible Islamic State (IS)-inspired terrorism attacks after receiving reports.

The president said that a terrorist group targets Zamboanga, Isabela in Basilan, and another major city he did not mention.

Duterte said war-stricken Marawi City, which was overtaken by Maute troops claiming inspiration from the IS since May, may be rid of terror elements a week from now.

He also warned the military forces of the country that Islamic State (IS)-inspired terrorism may still extend to the next administration.

“This terrorism inspired by (the IS) will not go in about seven to 10 years. There will be violence everywhere…They will not disappear. They will regroup anywhere and everywhere,” the Inquirer quoted Duterte as saying.

Russia, the president said, has extended its arms to donate 5,000 rifles that may soon arrive in the Philippines.
