The Dubai-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW) mother of slain teenager Carl Angelo Arnaiz revealed that she had sent her son P17,000 a day before he was killed by police authorities for the alleged robbery of a taxi driver.
Eva Arnaiz, who worked in Dubai for seven years was with fellow OFW Lorenza Delos Santos, the mother of another slain teenager Kian Delos Santos, in a Senate investigation regarding their sons’ death in the hands of Caloocan policemen.
“[August] 16 ko po iyun pinadala. [August] 17, nag-usap kami na hindi pa niya nakuha tapos nangyari nga po iyun (pagkamatay ni Carl),” ABS-CBN News quoted the mother Arnaiz.
She also said that she cannot return to her work in Dubai anymore since her son’s death because her visa was canceled.
The 19-year-old Arnaiz was killed in Caloocan after a supposed shootout with law enforcers for allegedly robbing taxi driver Tomas Bagcal.
Police authorities also claimed they retrieved marijuana and shabu from the teenager.
Bagcal said he was robbed by the younger Arnaiz but claimed that the gun used in the shootout was “scripted”.
Arnaiz was a University of the Philippines-Diliman student until he dropped out because of depression.
His parents have already filed murder charges against Bagcal and PO1 Jeffrey Perez and PO1 Ricky Arquilita for their son’s death.
