Trillanes urges public to support Ombudsman probe on Duterte’s wealth

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has urged the public to support Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang on their probe into the President’s wealth.

“Nananawagan ako sa ating mga kababayan at mga cause-oriented groups na ipahiwatig nila ang kanilang suporta kay Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales at Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang upang magampanan nila ang kanilang tungkulin na panagutin ang mga tiwali sa ating gobyerno,” the senator said in a statement on Sunday.

President Rodrigo Duterte said Saturday he has nothing to hide, dismissing allegations of corruption against him.

He said during the installation of new officers and induction of new members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Davao City Chapter that he and his common-law wife are merely working hard to earn a living for his family.

Duterte brought to attention the alleged figures amounting to millions of pesos in the bank records and cited them as false and misleading

Expressing his ire over what he claimed ‘falsified bank statements and allegations of corruption’ before Davao City lawmakers, Duterte said that the documents released pertaining to his bank transactions were falsified.

He then repeated his commitment that he will resign from his post if he has PHP200 million worth of deposits in the banks, saying he vows to do it in obedience to his oath of office.
