‘Digong’s solar panel’ shines at first PH solar factory inauguration

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed gratitude for the efforts to develop the country’s renewable energy industry, specifically in advancing the country’s solar energy capabilities as he attends the inauguration of the country’s first solar power factory on Wednesday, August 23.

President Duterte noted that the establishment of the state-of-the-art facility of Solar Philippines is timely and relevant as the country addresses the increasing demand for renewable energy

“Since developing solar energy projects in the Philippines mostly requires imported materials, it is high time that we begin to establish local solar power factories,” the Philippine News Agency (PNA) quoted the president as saying.

According to the president, the solar products and services of Solar Philippines are expected to meet the need for more but cheaper solar panels for the Philippines and other countries.

President Duterte led the unveiling ceremony of a solar panel embossed with the map of the Philippines while Solar Philippines President and CEO Leandro Leviste presented a “Digong Edition” of the solar panel during the event.
