An elderly Filipino couple was targeted with some racist remarks by a Canadian woman while on the train in Vancouver on Monday afternoon.

The woman shouted some remarks like, “I was born and raised right here” and “Go back to the Philippines.”

According to Paula Correa, the one who recorded the video, the woman became irritated because the Filipino couple was talking too loud. She told CTW news the Filipino man apologized for their behavior and explained that people in the Philippines speak loudly.

The yellow emergency strip on the SkyTrain car was pressed to alert the Transit Police officers but the woman already left the car by the time they boarded.

The department said the woman is a 75-year-old resident from New Westminster.

“She is known to police for documented anger related issues in the past but there is nothing documented that would indicate there is a concern for public safety,” Transit Police said in their statement.
