The UAE’s moon-sighting committee declared that today (Sunday) is the first day of the month of Shawwal and Eid Al Fitr.
The committee, headed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice, confirmed the official start of the Eid holidays following legitimate measures and information from neighboring countries, WAM said Saturday.
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan circulated a congratulatory cables to the leaders of Muslim countries.
HH Sheikh Khalifa wished for continued good health and well-being for leaders as well as progress and prosperity for their people.
The Eid holiday for the public sector will conclude on Tuesday and work will resume on Wednesday.
The holiday for the private sector will run until Monday with work resuming on Tuesday.
