GCC sees rise in demand for IT, medical professionals

DUBAI: There are increased opportunities for information technology and medical professionals across the GCC, according to the latest job speak index from jobs website www.naukrigulf.com.

High demand has been recorded (a remarkable 21 percent) increase in jobs for IT professionals, Emirates 24/7 quoted the report as saying.

The figures were compared in December 15 over October 15.

Medical professionals are next on the list with a 14 percent in job growth. Third, on the list are HR & Administration and Engineering candidates with a growth of 3 percent in new jobs, the report said.

The markets is reportedly flat for those in sales and marketing professionals. There was no increase in the number of jobs for these candidates.

Finance and accounts professionals saw a decline in hiring activity by -2 percent, said the Dubai-based news portal.

Among the best performing sectors, services and education leads the job market in GCC, it said.

Services reportedly lead the new jobs market with a 60 percent growth in December over October of last year.

Most industries in the GCC saw more job opportunities for prospective candidates. Education was up 21 percent, trading 17 percent, FMCG, IT & telecom up 14 percent, manufacturing & healthcare saw a jump of 12 percent and 10 percent respectively for new job opportunities. Construction & allied grew by a mere 1 percent, the naukrigulf.com report said.
