Pinoy seafarer proposes wedding to his girlfriend at dry dock

by | Lifestyle

If there’s one real-life love story that can epitomize Popeye and Olive Oyl’s romance, perhaps this Filipino love birds will suffice.

Seafarer Raineir Gonzales shared the video of his wedding proposal to his girlfriend, Krizia Marie Marcaida, who works as a nurse.

A video posted on the online blog Seaman Problems shows Gonzales surprising his girlfriend with a bouquet of flowers then gets down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.

This took place at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore two years ago. The couple was married on January 16 last year.

When asked how he planned his proposal, Gonzales said: “Pinapunta ko po yung girlfriend ko sa Singapore para mag tour at sa barko namin siya mag stay. Wala po siyang idea na mag po-propose ako.”

And while most people are hesitant to believe that long distance relationships, especially with seafarers, do prosper, Gonzales shared that the key to a successful one is constant communication and trust.
