9 New Year’s resolution for adults

“New Year, New Me” quotes are going to flood your Facebook news feeds once again. People see the New Year as the start of something new.

Many take this time of year to reflect about themselves and look for the things that they need to change, whether it may be their weight or their attitude.

But if you are that kind of person who finds it difficult to come up with New Year’s resolutions, here are some examples that you can do this 2018. Just make sure that you will stick and stay true to them.

1. Go to church more often

Start the New Year by reconnecting with your faith if you have slightly diverted from it. Attend the Sunday mass, go to confession, join church activities, and pray more often.

Strengthening your relationship with the Lord by simply going to church to pray can be spiritually fulfilling.

2. Spend more time with family and friends

It is understandable that there are some less clingy people. They are the ones who are fine with not spending time with friends and family. But try to reconnect with them in 2018, even if you’re too far to be able to do this, Facebook messaging and Skype will change your relationship with them for the better. Instead of just seeing your family and friends whenever you want, or once every two years when you fly home, try to engage with them often even just on social media.

3. Be more wise with money

If you have the habit of squandering money, maybe it is time to change that in the coming year. Be smart enough to budget your money so that you will be able to save some without sacrificing your needs and wants.

4. Appreciate your job

If you are the type of person who comes to the work whining and wanting to get out soon, try to look into the good side of your job. You have that job because you have a purpose. Look for something that will motivate you and encourage you to do better in your job.

If you really can’t handle it anymore, take some time to reevaluate what you are doing and decide what is best for you. Life is too short to keep working a job you do not like.

5. Try something different

Let yourself continually experience new things. If you have the resources, allow yourself to travel, taste new cuisines, try extreme sports, etc.

The world has so much to offer and it would be best if you promise yourself to try and experience as many as you can in the following year.

6. Be romantically mature

Once you get older, you’ll begin to realize that one night stands and cheap flings are no longer fun. If you have found the perfect one, make sure that the relationship will work in the long run.

Part of the adult life is settling down and starting a family – you will not be able to achieve that if you will keep on using Tinder for hook-ups. Give yourself the opportunity to build a strong romantic relationship with someone who is meant for you.

7. Learn something new

Just because you’ve already finished school doesn’t mean that your intellectual growth should stop. Life is an unending learning process so it would be best that you don’t stop yourself from learning new things. Allow yourself to learn new things like photography, baking, drawing, etc.

You can also try new hobbies that you have never tried before.

8. Spread love

This coming year, instead of extending hate, why not promote love, kindness, peace, and understanding. You don’t need to carry an emotional baggage every time. Let go of all the negativities and start your year on a positive note.

Most importantly, don’t forget to give love to yourself too. Before you spread love to others, make sure that you are generous with giving love and happiness to yourself first.
