Paulo, Aljur answer rumored ‘romance’ issue

by | Entertainment

In an episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” actors Paulo Avelino and Aljur Abrenica talked about past rumors that they were in a relationship.

The two actors first recalled how they first met during their days in StarStruck, a reality talent search in GMA.

Abrenica said that Avelino left a good first impression on him by saying: “Noong nakita ko si Paulo, sabi ko, ‘Wow, this guy, dashing,'”

“Gwapo na si Paulo noon. Kumbaga sa competition, ito iyong makakalaban ko,” he added.

Avelino also reminisced his first memories of Abrenica when they were still getting to know each other in StarStruck.

“Talented, dahil nakikita ko siya na nag-o-audition, kumakanta. Nakikita mo, parang ang galing kumanta nito. Sana napunta na lang sa akin iyong talent niya sa pagkanta,” Avelino said.

Avelino and Abrenica were both part of StarStruck’s fourth season. Abrenica eventually won the competition while Avelino finished as a finalist.

This led to Boy Abunda asking them if they can still remember the rumors about them being in a relationship with one another.

The two actors shared a laugh before Avelino said: “Ayaw ko na sanang alalahanin iyong mga pinagdaanan natin.”

“Meron ngang gano’n,” Abrenica said referring to the rumors. “Tinawanan lang namin ni Paulo iyan,” he added.

For his part, Avelino said, “Sabi nila, medyo malambot daw ako, na mukhang totoo naman . . . Siguro naging close din talaga lahat ng mga ka-batch namin, at siguro na mis-interpret lang ng mga tao.”

Avelino and Abrenica will be starring alongside each other in ABS-CBN’s new afternoon drama, “Asintado.”
