Miss Universe 2017 candidates stuck in Siargao due to typhoon Urduja

Despite the cancellation of their flight back to Manila due to typhoon Urduja, two Miss Universe 2017 candidates are small smiles to spend more time on the island of Siargao.

Miss Universe Canada 2017 Lauren Howe and Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha James were both invited by Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters to visit his hometown, as well as his cafe.

On Instagram, James posted a photo with Howe, seemingly happy vibes despite the expected storm landfall today.

“So happy to be stranded on Siargao Island. (Due to typhoon) Whoop tee doooooo,” she posted

Eight areas are now under Tropical Cyclone Signal Warning No. 2 as Urduja nears to make landfall over Northern-Eastern Samar on Saturday afternoon or evening, according to weather bureau PAGASA.

TCWS No. 2 is hoisted over the following areas:

  • Sorsogon
  • Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
