Miss South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters took home the crown, ending the 39-year-long drought of victory for her country in this pageant.

The 22-year-old business management graduate bested other 91 beautiful candidates during the finals.

Her country last won Miss Universe in 1978 and she is the second woman to bring home the crown for her country.
