Vietnamese beauty queen apologizes for calling Kylie Versoza ‘ugly’

Miss Universe Vietnam 2017  Nguyen Thi Loan has issued a public apology on Instagram for calling Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza ‘ugly.’

Last year, Loan left a comment on a picture of Versoza taken during the swimsuit portion of the pageant in Japan.

Fans were quick to defend Versoza, and the newly-crowned Vietnamese representative drew flak. So, last Oct 20, on an Instagram post, Loan apologized to Versoza and her fans for the comment.

Dear all! When i wrote that work, i was selfish to set myself in your situation and understand your feeling… My mistake and i thought much about that later… I’m sory for that and thanks for all from you!!!

“Just by natural reaction, I thought that it was not a good picture of her and I commented based on my honest feelings,” she admitted.

The 26-year-old clarified that she only meant that the picture was an unflattering one, and she was misunderstood because of her lack of proficiency in English.

“Sometimes, even the most beautiful person could have a non-really photogenic picture…due to the angle, lighting or a wrong moment,” she explained.

“I sincerely apologize for hurting Kylie and you (fans) by accident. This is a lesson for me and I will take more care in the future,” she said.
