Choreographer stops mid-dance to propose to girlfriend

It was supposed to be just another regular dance class at Los Angeles’ Millennium Dance Complex on Wednesday, June 12. Little did everyone know, an epic marriage proposal was about to happen on the dance floor.

Los Angeles-based choreographer Phil Wright added a few extra moves as he got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend in the midst of dancing with her.

Wright and his girlfriend of 8 years, Ashley Liai, were dancing in sync to John Legend’s romantic song “You & I (Nobody In The World)” . But when Liai turned her head away for a particular move, Wright took out the ring from his pocket and popped the question to his longtime girlfriend.

“All I knew is that we were doing a couples’ class on our anniversary. I had no idea the man of my dreams would ask me to be his forever,” Liai said in an interview with Mashable.

Liai continued to gush over the way her boyfriend chose to propose to her, “We met in class so it’s just so perfect that he asked me to be his future wife in the same setting. This moment was truly unforgettable for the both of us. I’m still on cloud 9.”

On his part, Wright wanted to combine his love for dance and Liai in one epic dance marriage proposal.
“I gathered all the things I loved to create the perfect environment for this huge step in our relationship,” he said.
